hwhy - The Divine Name

pronounced:  ah-daw-nahy

The name of the LORD (YHWH) is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe.’ – Proverbs 18:10.

hwhy (transliteration – YHWH), widely referred to as the tetragrammaton (meaning – four letters) is the name of the God of Israel. In Jewish tradition it is read as ynda (pronounced - Adonai) meaning Lord.

In English translations of the Old Testament it is capitalised and translated as LORD. In theophanic experiences it is regularly translated as Jehovah and more recently Yahweh (And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh…..- Genesis 22:14).
