By now you can probably tell that the Bible, Jesus and God are extremely important to us. Here is where we wear our hearts on our sleeves and explain why. If you are as open-minded, free spirited, independent, liberal and willing to try new things as we think you are then we are guessing you will read this to the very end.

Great! You are still with me! Right, so many of you reading this probably already have a view of Christianity -  it’s old-fashioned, rules based, backwards, irrelevant, racist, non-scientific and judgemental. Some of you may have even tried Christianity but concluded it wasn’t for you because you have been hurt and let down by other Christians whether they be friends or people in authority. Some of you might have given up on Christianity because it didn’t seem to fit or tally with your life dreams, goals and aspirations. Others can’t stand Christianity because it seems like it has caused far more problems in the history of world than it has solved. Whilst others are simply indifferent, couldn't care either way and think 'Each to his own'.

However, most (if not all) of us at one point or another have had the thought that there must be more to our lives than just our daily routines. Some of us, in our quiet moments on the Tube, or at a bus stop reflect on life and its pressures and look for a way out. Some of us cry ourselves to sleep wondering where and how we can get help. Others of us feel alone and misunderstood in crowded rooms, even when we are surrounded by our loved ones and friends. Most of us, aren’t suffering from depression and do not hate our lives – we are pretty content with life – okay and stable but in our still, silent moments we get a nagging feeling and ask ourselves, 'Is this it?'.
Here’s where Jesus steps in.

For some people Jesus is a friend that they never knew they had ('Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.' - John 15:15*). For others, Jesus provides unexpected unconditional love (…nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus... - Rom. 8:39). Others find hope and comfort through Jesus (He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others… - 2 Cor. 1:4). Whilst some simply find that, the nagging feeling they once had about the meaning of life suddenly stops once they start a relationship with God through Jesus

('But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again… ' - John 4:14*).

You know that feeling you get when you have had a proper three course meal and are full but still want a bit of chocolate or a coffee just to top it off. For most people, that’s life – they are content and happy but still need something to top it off - Jesus.

The great thing about Jesus is that He is for everyone and anyone – no criteria or restrictions. All you have to do is give Him a go – it’s a case of believing that something can and will happen and saying a simple prayer (If you declare that Jesus is Lord, and believe that God brought him back to life, you will be saved – Rom.10:9). You can say it alone, at a church, or with friends.

What about if you have said it before and it hasn’t worked out for you? Christianity is like riding a bike – you crash, fall off your bike, and get a few bruises along the way. When that happens you don’t throw your bike away or give up learning, you try again until you can ride your bike unaided (Even if good people fall seven times, they will get back up. - Prov. 24:16). If you have been hurt by other Christians, we can only apologise on their behalf. Church is full of people who aren’t perfect and make mistakes. Perhaps rather than giving up on Christianity, you can find a different church to call home?
